Both of my of my daughters are relatively restless sleepers...a trait I think they get from my wife! If they crawl in bed with you during the middle of the night, you must immediately get them right back to their beds, or the couch, or other alternative sleeping location. If you don't, simply kiss the rest of your night's sleep goodbye.
Because of this, it is not unusual to find them in the strangest of positions in their beds.
My youngest daughter, who is six, has been sleeping in the top bunk of their bunk bed. Amazingly, even though she is the most restless sleeper of them all, she has not yet fallen out of the bunk. However, it is not unusual to find her feet, and often entire legs, sticking out under the little guard rail on the bunk (really not that useful as a guard rail).
Last night was no exception to this. I was getting ready to drag myself to bed, and glanced in their room. Rachel's legs were sticking straight out into the middle of the room. In fact, they were extended out so far that her hips were nearly to the edge of her bed.
This would be funny enough, and I was tempted to run for my camera just for this picture. However, what I saw next did send me running for the camera. She was wearing socks...two completely different socks! And when I say different, they weren't even close. Now, I am usually thrilled when I manage to have matching socks on (don't laugh, I've had this problem before!) and if the socks are a matching, or at least not clashing, color to my pants, I'm ecstatic.
Even I would not put these two socks together!
By the time I got my camera and started trying to take the picture, she apparently realized that half her body wasn't on the bed and was starting to pull herself back from thin air. Unfortunately, this meant I missed the photo-op of her gravity-defying manner of sleeping. I did manage to squeeze in one quick shot of the mismatched socks, though, before she pulled her feet back onto the bunk.
That is the shot you see displayed here. Enjoy!
