The other day, I posted the following on twitter:
Am I the only 40+ dad that wants to decorate his home office with these?
Sure, other dads may dream of rich mahogany paneling and velvet tapestries, but I'm looking for Mario, a bunch of brick blocks, mushrooms, and those spiny things! (Plus Princess Peach) However, it's apparent that at least at the time of that posting, I was in fact the only 40+ dad looking to decorate with those decals.
No one responded. Not one.
I was shocked. Have all the rest of you forgotten how to play? I suppose you are going to tell me next that you don't have mullet wigs and suction cup dart guns in your desk at work, either. What's the matter? Are you afraid to play? Are you chicken?
Isn't the point of going to college to get a decent job so that you can do all that fun stuff you wanted to do as a kid...without your parents telling you it was bedtime! LIVE A LITTLE PEOPLE!
I did spot one glimmer of hope, though. I came across a guy on twitter last night that has a real live Super Mario Bros. arcade game in his basement. That's probably just as cool, if not cooler, than having your own Kiss pinball game!
So to answer the question of "When will he grow up?" I don't know. It seems unlikely to occur at this point. You're talking to a guy that has Micky Mouse as a wizard, the Taco Bell chihuahua, A.L.F., a skeleton with a tie-dye shirt, Opus, and Scrooge McDuck stuffed animals sitting on his desk!
Growing up is over-rated. Admit it. If you don't I'll give you an Indian rope-burn until you cry "uncle!"

Readers of "One Dad's Life." Yesterday, we received some scary news regarding "motherofbun", a regular visitor of this website. Please read the post below for more information and please show her some support, if you haven't already! Thank you very much. - Gregg

I haven't gotten the hang of that Twitter thing yet... But let it be known that I would have commented if I had seen it! Mostly because I really want those, too.... Growing up is for the birds.

The office I share with my hubby is full of movie posters we both love and framed rock-n-roll album covers. We have one wall totally dedicated to Jethro Tull!

My Grandfather always told me that You have to grow old but you never have to grow up!

We were at a 40th b-day party last Sat. night and Dave and I were talking about the Wii and all the games and of course Mario Kart and Guitar Hero and it was like you could hear the crickets chirping....NO ONE plays WITH their kids. It's sad really. We were like it is soooo much fun. Well, send YOUR kids on over, WE will play with them! I guess that's why we are the cool parents in the 'hood to all the kids, but the dorks in regards to the parents. I think I know what I would rather be.....

Check out my blog for some of the things I'm doing to avoid growing up! The latest is buying a PS3 game JUST FOR ME! Turns out it's a crappy game, but even so...
PS can I borrow your mullet wig sometime?

I'm lucky enough to live near the land of Mickey Mouse and with kids giving me the excuse I don't plan to ever grow up completely. I've got a picture of me wearing mouse ears while on the beach in USVI.

I am totally into my son's Legos and Playmobile sets, and thank God my daughter does love Barbies - now I have someone to play with! After our trip to Disney last summer, I learned I will never outgrow that - I am as excited to go there as both of the kids combined! In fact, I have decided I will only turn 40 if I can do it at Disneyworld! (I'm saving my pennies)

I LOVE this idea! Growing up is for the birds! When decorating, you should surround yourself with the things that you love, that make you happy, no matter if it's "age appropriate".
