A couple of weeks ago, all the girls in my family were exploring that whole tongue rolling thing and whether or not they could actually do it. I know that my wife can, and I believe that my oldest daughter can, but what I saw next so eclipsed these trivial memories that I don't remember.
Apparently, instead of just rolling her tongue like normal people with the tongue-rolling gene can do, my youngest does something that can only be described as genetically weird.
Please observe the out-of-focus photo below (unfortunately, my only photo record of the phenomenon).
If you look closely at the tongue area, you'll see that instead of NOT being able to roll her tongue (like me) or actually being able to roll her tongue (like my wife), she confusingly flips her tongue upside down....AND THEN ROLLS IT!
I have not yet decided whether this is genetically advanced or devolved. Scientists may ponder this question for years to come. All I know is that now I have proof that my daughter is genetically weird. Previously, I had only suspected.
I do know that if I tried such a stunt, I would probably strain something and be unable to eat for a week!
I think she gets it from my wife...just saying.

Hi Gregg,
Don't submit your Daughter to the weirdest kids in the US as of yet... It is genetically weird.. I too can flip tongue upside down and then roll. I suspect that she can pronounce the R better than you and wife... Since I'm hispanic, I always thought it was because of our RRRRolling rrrrrrrrrrs...

You might be right about that rolled R thing. I can't really do it, which is a shame because I really like Spanish, but my daughters and wife can pronounce the R sounds in Spanish correctly.
Hmmm.

Now you just need to see if she can tie a knot in a cherry stem with her tongue!

Huh. That's pretty cool! I can kinda do it, too.

Bring her to the lab and I will sequence her DNA....
