Our two daughters have been out of town with my parents since Thursday, which affords my wife and I some time to hang up the whole parenting suit in the closet and let loose. In the ever popular Internet blog list format, here are the top 10 things we can do while the kids are away (probably not what you are thinking!). In no particular order:
- If we wanted to stay up all night, we could. I mean, if we really wanted to. We might be too tired, though, as we are over 40.
- I could write a blog entry that is designed to embarrass the kids, and therefore provide humor for the adults. They wouldn't be able to do anything about it until they came back! Bwaa Ha Ha HA!
- We can take the cookies out of hiding and eat them openly in the house without fear of the kids finding out! (Thanks abunslife for the idea!)
- I can drive my car down the highway without my daughters telling me to stop making race car sound effects with my mouth. VRRROOOOOOOM!!!
- We can finally "sleep in" without our 6-year old, Rachel, waking us up at 6:30AM.
- No more fighting with the kids over the Guitar Hero guitars! Only two can play at a time, you know.
- I can watch my Loony Tunes DVDs without being asked to turn on Hannah Montana instead. Bugs Bunny rules!
- We can have food fights at dinner, without those pesky kids telling us to "grow up already."
- We get a much needed break from "High School Musical" music.
- We finally have a chance to hide overly large life-like rubber bugs in the kids' bedroom!
Of course, this also gives us a chance for a little day on the town..for which I am taking the day off work. My wife doesn't know this, yet, and she will probably find out by reading it here! (So don't tell her...shhhh).
You are too funny! Nice list - sounds like things my hubby and I can do! Have fun!

Man, I just noticed the music you're listening to! Steve Winwood, Rage Against the Machine, Rush, Asia - you're a man after my own heart! Rock on!

All my kids have moved out...you've given me some ideas.

Great list. Here's hoping you had a great weekend and were able to cherish the sleeping in, eating cookies whenever and have a Hannah Montana-less time!

Speaking of Hannah Montana - your 6yr. old apparently introduced my 4yr. old to her and now wherever we go (Hannah Montana is everywhere I've discovered) I have a child shrieking "HANNAH MATAMA, HANNAH MATAMA!!!!!!!!!" Followed by a calmer, matter of fact statement "Rachel told me about her."
I'm with you on the sleeping in - why can't I get my 6yr. old up at 6:30 for school, but now that it's summer, he is up at 6 (standing next to my bed saying C'mon Mommy get up.)He must think he's getting me back.

For the record I do NOT like either High School Musical or Hannah Montana! And Aunt Kim, I feel for you with the crazed Hannah Montana... experience.
